Within Habitat Week, Kukes Regional Council in collaboration with the Association of Environmental Protection, Nature Protection Network, INCA, organized activities aimed at sensitizing the public on the value of natural tourist assets of Kukes region, promoting and education for a friendly behavior to the environment and biodiversity in general.
The event began with the reception ceremony at the premises of Kukes Regional Council, where the President of the institution except thanked the participants and partners of this activity, he presented the work done by the institution to protect the environment and called on all to preserve the wonderful nature our region has.
Attendees, also, visited a photography exhibition with the natural resources of Kukes.
In his speech, the President of the Network for the Protection of Nature, Mr. Zamir Dedej, stressed the importance of the Basin of Fierza Lake for the life of Region’s residents, considering it not only a beautiful tourist attraction but also a good opportunity for economic development of the region.
Activity dropped further with the Drini Marathon, where raced school students, as well as prizes for the winners of the first three places.
Another important activity within this day was the exhibition of creations of city school students with nature theme, as well as some of the most important species of medicinal plants.
This awareness day ended with a ferry ride on Fierza Lake to look closely the natural beauty of the area around the lake.
